South title still on hold;Brees nearly throws game away with a pickoff in fourth, then rallies New
The
Falcons made Drew Brees pay for a
huge mistake, but couldn't stop the New Orleans quarterback with
everything on the line, losing 17-14 to the Saints in a tightly
played Monday Night Football game.
With 3:24 left to play, Brees coolly tossed a 6-yard scoring
pass to rookie tight end Jimmy Graham for the game-winner, delaying
an NFC South championship and No. 1 playoff seed for Atlanta
(12-3). That capped a 13-play, 92-yard drive.
That more than made up for an unfathomable error by the
offensive leader of the Saints (11-4).
