Jonathan Vilma filed a lawsuit against Roger Goodell. Now the NFL has responded with action of its own by filing a grievance against Vilma. Here’s a copy.
What does this mean? The legal fights continue in earnest. The NFL released this statement to CBSSports.com: “The CBA has a no-suit clause and we needed to file a grievance in order to be able to assert our rights under that clause.”
The statement went on to say that the NFL was following the CBA and not Vilma or his attorney.
Basically, the NFL maintains the CBA doesn’t allow Vilma to sue Goodell and that filing the grievance is the first step in establishing this fact. Vilma says otherwise and responded on Twitter he has no intention of dropping the suit.
So the Saints soap opera continues.
