The 2012 season has barely even started and it is already riddled with scandal. It seems the NFL can’t go a year without putting at least one team in time-out so commissioner Rodger Goodell can feel like the daddy of the league and be the disciplinarian. This year’s victim is the New Orleans Saints, having the hammer dropped on them for paying players extra money to make bigger hits on opposing team’s marquee players. By suspending four players (two of whom are no longer on the roster), three coaches (ex-Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams getting the worst of it), and one front office employee, the NFL has done nothing short of overreacting to a situation that didn’t need such drastic repercussions for New Orleans.
