At noon central time Sunday (CBS), the Kansas City Chiefs and New Orleans Saints square off in the only game this weekend between 0-2 teams. The Saints last faced the predicament of starting 0-3 in 2007.
That year the team hosted the Tennessee Titans on Monday Night Football. Though the Superdome was bouncing that night, the team somehow found a way to lose the game and go to 0-3.
Expectations for this year’s squad have always been stated tentatively, partially because no one knew how the team would respond without Sean Payton leading the group. It seems that after two games, the expectations are pretty much gone.
Perhaps Sunday the Saints can simply play football, without any pretensions of what could be. Doing so should allow them to defeat a Chiefs team that has struggled even more than the Saints in 2012.
The last time these teams played, the Saints escaped from Arrowhead Stadium on a cool November day with a 30-20 victory.
Follow along all day to see how this year’s matchup grades out for Drew Brees, the Saints offense, defense, special teams and coaches. Then come back later this evening to see how each individual Saints player graded out for their performance Sunday against the AFC West version of the Saints.
