Keys to the Game: Cowboys vs. Saints

It’s that time again! The Saints return Home to the Dome, as they get ready for a Prime Time Clash with the Dallas Cowboys.

Welcome back to another edition of Keys to the Game!

As always, we start with some weekly power rankings for the Black & Gold:

  • ESPN: #6 (Previous Week: #5) -1
  • NFL.com: #7 (Previous Week: #3) -4
  • CBS Sports:  #7 (Previous Week: #3) -4
  • Fox Sports: #9 (Previous Week: #5) -4

In all honesty, you can’t lose and really move up in the power rankings. Falling was inevitable, and suddenly the Saints are 1-2 in their last 3, and are under the radar more this week. Is it time to panic? Hardly. The Saints return home, after a disappointing loss to the Jets.

The Saints got off to a strong start in last year’s meeting, but then Patrick Robinson was picked on by the Romo to Dez Bryant combo, and the Cowboys jumped out to a 14-7 lead. The Saints caught some good momentum, and it seemed as though they had things locked up after a David Thomas 3-yard touchdown catch early in the 4th quarter. However, Dallas would come back and eventually tie the game in the final minute to force overtime. Garrett Hartley would be summoned to kick what would be the game winning field goal, and the Saints escaped with a win.

This season? It’s two completely different teams going at it on Sunday Night Football! Get strapped in, I have a lot to say on this one!
