BIG BLUE'S SUPER BOWL STARS The Giants' five trips create a team full of all-time legends

The gold standard for any Giant in the Super Bowl - hell, any player in the Super Bowl - was Phil Simms' 22-of-25 passing for 286 yards and three touchdowns in the Giants' 39-20 Super Bowl XXI victory over the Broncos in Pasadena. "Right from the first day of practice I felt that I was going to have a good game," Simms said afterwards. "I felt good about throwing the ball. Conditions were just perfect for passing. I could see that the ball was carrying better. The weather was great. I was used to throwing in the cold, but now I could grip the ball any way I wanted to. I could make it do anything I wanted.

Ahmad about you 49ers want to knock out Bradshaw

SAN FRANCISCO These 49ers are in severe attack mode. They're not just looking to beat the Giants and knock them out of the playoffs - they are looking to knock them out of the game, starting with running back Ahmad Bradshaw. There might as well be a bull's-eye on Bradshaw's back. Six times this season the 49ers have knocked an opposing running back out of the game. That is how they win games. That's what they did to Pierre Thomas last week in their 36-32 victory over the Saints.

BIG BLUE HAVE FRAN-DO ATTITUDE SUPER BOWL AWAITS WITH VICTORY OVER NINERS

SAN FRANCISCO - Some of them wouldn't even say the words and shot icy stares at questioners who did. You weren't going to hear "Super Bowl'' out of the mouth of Chris Canty, who didn't even want to acknowledge what's at stake tonight for the Giants . "We're not going out there to win the NFC Championship,'' Canty said, explaining that his only focus was on the process of beating the 49ers, not the prize that might follow.
