Darren Sproles make it Easy to "Cheer and Forget!"

With Reggie Bush throwing shots at the New Orleans Saints from Miami about "faking injuries on the field", Darren Spoles is making Saints fans easier to forget the former #1 pick, Bush, was in New Orleans for 5 seasons. Sproles has done a better job at doing BUSH, than BUSH. Don't get me wrong, I believe the Saints needed Bush to be successful in the NFL, but Sproles is doing a much better job at creating excitement and "consistency" in New Orleans.

Reggie Bush may become Saints "Big Time Player" for Playoffs

Bigtime Players Make Bigtime Plays!!!

Reggie BushI heard Reggie say this a few years ago.  Now it may be his time to put this quote into action for the Saints.  If Pierre Thomas is on IR with Chris Ivory, the Saints must rely on Bush and Jones to be their most experienced running backs for the playoffs.  The Saints signed free agent RB Wynn yesterday and Joique Bell from Philadelphia's practice squad on today to replace a Saints' running back.  Jeff Duncan of the Times Picayune heard rumors that Pierre Thomas was headed for IR.  This development shifts New Orleans from any "reliable" power running attack throughout the playoffs.

Bush and Jones are more of the speed backs.  Bell and Wynn will become the power backs.  But, most will be keeping a close eye of Reggie Bush.  The pressure will be on Bush to "Make Plays" and to "protect the football" in Seattle.  Will Payton place confidence in Reggie to be what he envisioned to him to be when he was drafted as the #2 overrall draft choice in 2006.  Reggie is at "career crossroad," but he could solidify himself as a "true Super Star" if he can produce significant running yards, first downs and touchdowns for the Saints in the playoffs.

It is now or never for Mr. Bush.  We believe, Reggie, do you?

Reggie Bush and Adrian Arrington perform well for Saints

Reggie BushThree offensive positives came out of Sunday's loss against the Tampa Bay Bucs game.  Reggie Bush rushed nine times for 70 yards (7.8 yard average).  His longest run was for 23 yards.  He also caught five passes for 55 yards.  He had a total of 125 yards in the football game.  This is positive to see Reggie running well.  He might play a very important role in the playoff game against the Seahawks on Saturday.

Adrian Arrington, promoted from the practice team this week, caught 7 passed for 79 yards (11.3 yard average).  He was targeted nine times by Brees and Daniels in the game.  Nice performance for a fan favorite.

Jimmy Graham caught another touchdown for the Saints.  However, he left the game with an ankle injury.  The injury did not look serious.

Inside the Saints Locker Room - Bucs game (WWL)

“We did a lot of things that prevent you from winning games. It was evident. Those are things we have to clean up if we’re going to have any type of success here in this second season.
-- Head Coach Sean Payton in his opening remarks after the game.

“Obviously you would rather have it than not have it. That’s clear. There’s momentum in a game. There’s momentum in a season. There’s momentum and we’ve got to be ready to play our best football here as we move forward. We’ve got some work to do.”
--Payton, when asked about the word momentum and if it’s overused.

“We did some stupid things that will definitely bite us in the playoffs. Once the playoffs start, it’s a whole new level of play. Everything is magnified. Just like when you go from preseason to regular season, regular season to playoffs.”
--Quarterback Drew Brees, talking about mistakes the Saints made against Tampa Bay.

“Our expectations are the exact same as when we came into the season and that’s there’s no reason why we can’t go back and do this again. Has it been difficult? Yeah, absolutely. We’ve faced our fair share of adversity but I feel like we’ve fought through that and it has strengthened us, it has brought us together. I feel like we have the potential to be an even better team than last year.”
--Brees, when asked about the road to the playoffs.

“Our goal was to win the game regardless of how everything else turned out. For us to sit here and say we turned it down wouldn’t be a true statement. They palyed better than us today and they finished the game off and won it.”
--Center Jonathan Goodwin, answering a question about whether there was a point the team knew the game didn’t matter anymore.

“The one thing I noticed about this team is we like challenges.  We respond to different challenges. When someone tells you, ‘Uh, I don’t think you’re going to be able to do this. It’s going to be hard.’ This team responds to things like that. I don’t think it’ll be a big deal to this team.”
--Linebacker Scott Shanle, when asked about playing three road playoff games to get to the Super Bowl

“The best thing about it, and there’s no good thing when you step in for a guy that goes down – you never want to see that happen, it allowed me get into the flow. It’s tough just coming on being a third-down guy, coming on the field and coming off. I’d rather be in the flow a little bit more, but if he comes back, that’s the scenario that I have to be in and I have to do it to the best of my ability.”
--Safety Darren Sharper, talking about playing in place of Malcolm Jenkins, who left the game injures.

“We still had some mistakes on offense. They got to Drew. They got pressure on Drew. We had a key turnover on goal  line towards the end of the half. Stuff like that  you can’t have and stuff like that that will get you beat in a playoff game.”

Reggie Bush treats and serves the needy at Christmas in New Orleans

Reggie Bush serving the needyNew Orleans needy were fed and clothed this Christmas day by Bridge House.  And many were treated to a special guest for a little while.

People lined up early for the Bridge House feast. Volunteers dished out hot Christmas dinner for dozens who bundled up on this cold Christmas day.

"I was hoping to find some good Christmas dinner and I did. I'm very grateful," said one of the guests, Kenny Ralph.

Saints Running Back Reggie Bush and his mother also showed up to help serve.  Guests were very excited to meet and talk to him as he tried to take care of their needs.

"It's a very humbling experience for me, getting a chance to meet with the people who obviously are less fortunate, you know it makes you appreciate the finer things and the little things that you have in life," Bush said.

After dining on a holiday meal, Bridge House had another treat for people: clothes, shoes and other items to carry them through this season.

"It's important because a lot of these people that you see here that have come here is all they have is the clothes on their back," said Wayne Olivio, Bridge House's Income Development Director.

They patiently waited in line to receive their gifts.  Volunteers tried to match as best as possible everyone's sizes. Abraham Mendoza was very grateful for his gift bag on Christmas.

"Sometime I sleep in the street.  You know what I mean, you know?" Mendoza said.

He's homeless and has no family here in New Orleans, while he's a little lonely on Christmas day.  He and many of these people appreciate the giving spirit of Bridge House on this holiday.

Bridge House is a substance abuse treatment center for the needy and/or homeless. The meal was provided by Harrah's.

Reggie Bush bashers busy once again

They are out in full force this holiday season.

No, not cops at designated checkpoints around town in search of overly-juiced motorists, or TV pitchmen trying to push the perfect kitchen utensil to put under the Christmas tree.

I’m talking about the Bush Bashers, the Bush Whackers, the Reggie Haters, etc., that disgruntled segment of Who Dat society which seems to revel in ripping the 25-year-old New Orleans Saints running back 24/7.

Apparently, it’s open season on Bush after his low-light performance in Sunday’s 30-24 loss to the Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium, or rather ’tis the season to Dis Reggie.

Bah-Hum-Bush!

I’m surprised the Bush Mob isn’t busy organizing a protest in front of the Superdome for the team’s regular-season finale against Tampa Bay on Jan., 2 or dispatched a lobbyist to Washington, D.C., to carry their message.

There is venom in their veins, to the point where it has become almost personal.

Here is a sampling of a few potshots taken at RB25 that have crossed my path the past few days:

-- Maybe, Reggie can take Santa's place this Christmas & back down everyone’s chimney.

-- Instead of crawfish boils, call them Bush Boils!

-- What goes beep-beep every time it backs up? A Reggie truck!

-- Wrong Way Reggie!

OK enough.

My response to all you mean-spirited Bush Whackers is frickin’ lighten up, will ya please!

Granted, the former 2005 Heisman Trophy winner has not put up productive numbers this season. Nor has he come close to justifying his $8 million base salary, in part, perhaps, because a broken right fibula kept him on the sideline for eight games.

In fact, it doesn’t seem that long ago when hordes of Saints fans clamored for him to get back in the lineup, that a struggling offense missed his presence, if only as a clever decoy.

In five games, Bush, the second overall pick in the 2006 draft, has 62 touches for 320 yards and one touchdown. Here’s the breakdown:

-- 26 rushes for 80 yards, a 3.1-yard average, with a long of 13 yards & no TDs.

-- 25 catches for 133 yards, a 5.3-yard average, with a long of 20 yards & 1 TD.

-- 10 punt returns for 75 yards, a 7.5-yard average, with a long of 43 yards.

-- 1 kick return for 32 yards (against Baltimore).

You can do the math. It adds up to very little bang for the bucks.

I understand the fans’ lingering frustration. I agree from a business standpoint: Reggie Bush has not justified his contract or fulfilled the lofty and unfair expectations that come with being the second overall pick.

But shouldn’t Saints’ management share some of the blame? After all, they backed up the Brinks truck and doled out their millions with owner Tom Benson’s blessing, not just once but twice on a player who is not a featured back nor touches the ball more than 10-12 times a game. And yet, I don’t sense the Bush Bashers have the same disdain for decision makers Mickey Loomis and Sean Payton that they have for Reggie Bush, now nearly five seasons into his NFL career.

Why is that?

Let’s be honest here: Reggie Bush did what anyone in his or her right mind would have done back in 2006 when he signed a six-year, $52 million contract and again in the summer of 2008 when he restructured that original deal.

Under the terms of the new deal, Bush now is scheduled to make a base salary of $11.8 million in 2011 and will count $16 million against the ’11 salary cap, though I don’t believe he will ever see that kind of money with the Black and Gold.

In 2006 and again in ’08, he took the money and ran. Unfortunately, Bush just hasn’t run to everyone’s liking nor shed that annoying habit of running backwards and losing yards.

To all you Bush Bashers, Whackers and Haters who call yourselves Saints fans, if you want to disrespect Reggie Bush, go right ahead. That’s your prerogative.

I say think again. You're out of bounds.

Engaged?!! Reggie Bush says C'Mon Man!

This is a brief note on the Reggie Bush engagement to Mayra Veronica - C'MON MAN!!!!!!!!! Reggie is denying the gossip (on his Facebook page) that was inspired by his "supposed" lady, Mayra Veronica.  Partly because she is rocking a huge rock on the ring finger.

Word to Reggie:  Don't worry about the haters, gossipers and rumor mongers, focus on SUPER BOWL 45 in Dallas, that is the goal!
