New Orleans Saints Just before NFL free agency officially began, the New Orleans Saints re-signed standout WR Marques Colston to a five-year contract. Reportedly, Colston will get $40 million, $19 million of which is guaranteed.
The Buffalo Bills have made no secret of their need to improve

Because of their salary cap situation, the
Texans are having to make difficult
decisions about whom to keep and whom to try to re-sign before free
agency begins Tuesday at 3 p.m., when every team must be under the
$120.6 million cap.
The
Texans , who spent almost $20 million
more than the cap last year, didn’t wait to start making moves.
Offensive tackle Eric Winston was the first of several cap
casualties. They saved $4.5 million by placing him on waivers.
Quarterback Matt Leinart will be another one. Leinart will be
waived Tuesday, freeing up $1.75 million in cap money.
With receiver Andre Johnson clearing $5.2 million in cap space
by restructuring his contract, the
Texans saved $11.45 million on
Monday.

The NFL’s free agent market opens for business today at 4p.m. ET
with a wealth of talent available. USA TODAY ranks the top 50 free
agents (players who received the franchise tag were not included).
Players are listed with their age on 2012 opening day and their
2011 team(s):
1. QB Peyton Manning (36, Indianapolis Colts): Arguably the most
coveted free agent in history, the four-time MVP immediately makes
his next team a Super Bowl threat assuming he reverts to his
pre-surgery form. Fits: Denver Broncos,
Arizona
Cardinals , Miami Dolphins
2. DE-OLB Mario Williams (27, Houston Texans): Before his
injury-marred 2011 campaign (torn chest muscle), he had averaged
nearly 10 sacks over his first five seasons. But he did prove he
fit in 4-3 and 3-4 defenses. Fits: San Diego Chargers, Atlanta
Falcons, Texans
