2018 Mock Draft: Saints trade out of first round, worth it? – USA Today Saints News

The Saints made a bold move last draft season when they gave up a future second-round pick to gain an extra third rounder in 2017. That pick, of course, turned into rookie of the year running back Alvin Kamara. For this mock draft exercise (one of several we’ll run before the 2018 NFL draft), we decided to get a look at what would happen if New Orleans bailed from their first round slot.

Currently sitting No. 27, it is more than likely New Orleans would be selecting a player whom they gave a second-round grade to. Most NFL teams only award 15-20 first-round grades in any given year. Teams picking 21 through 32 are normally selecting from players who are graded very similarly …
