Saints roster moves: QB Barrett released from practice squad, WR Tommylee to I.R. – (Saints Wire) Saints News

The New Orleans Saints officially filed two roster moves corresponding to signings reported earlier Wednesday morning, per Luke Johnson of
In order to sign veteran defensive tackle Jay Bromley to the 53-man roster, wide receiver/punt returner Tommylee Lewis was placed on injured reserve with a knee injury. Lewis left last Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns and did not participate in Wednesday’s practice.
Lewis was beginning his third year with the Saints, having signed with New Orleans as an undrafted free agent out of Northern Illinois on Bill Parcells’ suggestion. Lewis won the job to return kicks and punts over the summer, but his loss opened the door for reserve Taysom Hill to do fun things like return a kickoff 47 yards on his first try.
Additionally, undrafted rookie quarterback J.T. Barrett was released from the practice squad to accommodate the signing of journeyman linebacker Darnell Sankey. Barnett has bounced on and off the practice squad throughout the first two weeks of the season, and could very well return later in the month.
