Ed Orgeron, Devery Henderson to highlight GNOSF QB Club luncheon this Tuesday – (Crescent City Sports) Saints News

(Photo: Terrill Weil)LSU head football coach Ed Orgeron, former New Orleans Saints, LSU and Opelousas star Devery Henderson, Tulane deputy athletic director Monica Lebron, John Curtis Christian head coach J.T. Curtis and Carver head coach Byron Addison are set to speak at the weekly meeting of the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation Quarterback Club on Tuesday, Oct. 23 at noon at Rock’n’Bowl, 3016 South Carrollton Avenue in New Orleans.In his third year as the head coach at LSU, Orgeron just earned National Coach of the Week honors for LSU’s big 36-16 win over second-ranked Georgia, the third win for Orgeron and the Tigers over a top 10 team this season. A native of Larose, Orgeron attended South Lafourche High School, LSU and Northwestern State.Among his coaching stops Orgeron served as the head coach at Ole Miss and the Interim head coach at USC. He coached defensive line for the New Orleans Saints in 2008 and came to LSU as defensive line coach in 2015 before being promoted to Interim head coach in 2016 before taking over as head coach permanently in 2017. Orgeron has his Tigers ranked fifth in the nation.(Photo: Parker Waters)A native of Opelousas, Henderson starred at Opelousas High and LSU, where he was part of a national championship team in 2003. He was also a track star at LSU, part of a national championship squad as well.A second-round pick of the Saints in 2004, Henderson went on to play nine years for the Saints, catching 245 passes for 4,377 yards and 20 touchdowns and rushed for another score. Henderson led the NFL in yards per catch in 2006 and 2008 and was part of the Saints’ Super Bowl XLIV championship team in the 2009 season.Named to her position in 2016, Lebron is a Yale graduate and received her Masters from Ohio University. Lebron is second in command to athletic director Troy Dannen, overseeing all aspects of the athletic department at Tulane. She is the sport supervisor for football, women’s basketball, volleyball, beach volleyball and sailing. Lebron previously worked in athletic administration at Georgia, Ole Miss and California.In half a century of coaching at the school that bears his family name, Curtis has the most wins in Louisiana prep football history by a wide margin with 576 and the most state titles in Louisiana history with 26 on the field for the Patriots. Curtis is 7-0 this season and ranked No. 1 in the state in both the CrescentCitySports.com and the LHSAA Class 5A rankings.In his seventh year at Carver, Addison has guided the Rams to the state playoffs in all seven of his seasons.Speakers from the Saints, LSU, Tulane and prep football will address the audience weekly each Tuesday, along with special guest speakers from the sports world locally and nationally.A local high school player of the week is chosen throughout the season with a metro prep player of the year announced at the end of the season, sponsored by the R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl. Lunch is served.In addition, Chevron sponsors student-athletes of the week, who receive plaques and recognition for their accomplishments in the classroom.Annual standard membership is $50.
