Dez Bryant was one of three wide receivers in for tryouts with the Saints on Tuesday, Nov. 6, and it sounds like he might soon be in Black and Gold. The last word that came out last night, Tuesday, Nov. 6, regarding Dez Bryant was from NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero and, from what he’s hearing, the former Cowboys receiver may soon be suiting up in Black and Gold.Bryant was one of three receivers in Saints camp on Tuesday for tryouts, interviews, look-overs. The other two were Brandon Marshall and former Eagle Kamar Aiken as we discussed in Who Dat Dish yesterday.Of those three receivers, Bryant is certainly the biggest name and has the most recent productivity. In 2017, playing in all 16 games with the Cowboys, Bryant put up 69 catches for 838 yards and six TDs.But that was quite a drop off from what he had done in the years between 2012 and 2014. He was obviously not happy with the direction his team was going and was released this past offseason.Dez Bryant, Saints in negotiations on deal: t.co/YuUknSGdak (via @RapSheet + @TomPelissero + @SlaterNFL) pic.twitter.com/YsSv6ZXadc— NFL (@NFL) November 7, 2018Between 2012 and 2014, Bryant was averaging over 1,300 yards a season and put up 41 touchdowns. That was a remarkable streak that came apart with a foot injury in 2015 and, after that, issues getting back into his regular position in the lineup. That injury in 2015 was serious enough to require a bone graft in Bryant’s foot. But according to the reports from Tom Pelissero, the Saints liked what they saw in the workouts conducted with the former first round pick out of Oklahoma State.Character concerns have always been an issue with Bryant. His time in Dallas was no exception as he was frequently the subject of locker room chatter regarding him butting heads with coaches and teammates. That has to be a concern for Sean Payton and the rest of the Saints brass. But that would have been something talked about heavily with Bryant yesterday when he was in camp.Unlike the other two receivers, Marshall and Aiken, Bryant had an individual workout after those two had one together. That surely included ample time simply talking about how he would fit into the Saints offense and locker room. The Saints have shipped off first round picks before when they’ve become “just gimme the damn ball” types. Kenny Stills and Brandin Cooks saw that first hand. Dez Bryant, if signed, will have been made fully aware of what the expectations would be for him on and off the field.Playing for the Saints right now is an enviable position for any player to be in. The team is solid. They sit atop all of the power rankings in the NFL at 7-1 and are primed for a playoff run if not a Super Bowl run. Seeing what Dez Bryant left behind in Dallas, there’s not a better landing spot for him in the league. Next: Saints, Rams Week 9: Observations from the cheap seats There should be news to report later today if monetary concerns can be worked out. But, with Mickey Loomis holding the purse strings, you can bet things will get worked out if Dez Bryant wants to be in New Orleans and the Saints want him back. It’s worth noting that there isn’t currently a player wearing number 88 on the Saints roster.
