In the 2018 Season, this Saints team is rolling strong at 7-1. My prediction had them at 7-1. Here is how they got there plus a look ahead at the next quarter. There are times when one enjoys being incorrect. Those times when you think something negative will happen and it doesn’t. I’m celebrating something partially incorrect as the New Orleans Saints hit the halfway point in the 2018 Season. My preseason prediction was for them to be 7-1 at the halfway point. I got that much correct. My incorrect prediction was where the loss would come. Still and all, 7-1 is the mark and what a phenomenal achievement for the Saints. The Saints started off slowly. They lost to Tampa Bay in the season opener with a lackluster defensive performance. They followed that up with a victory over Cleveland that honestly shouldn’t have been. Had Cleveland’s kicker not missed two field goals and two extra points, for that matter if he only missed one of each, this game may have turned out differently. But he did, and the Saints got an early gift. They began to round into form a bit at Atlanta, still porous on the back half of the defense, but beginning to round up better offensively. ByWeek 4 in New York, we began to look like the team we expected to see.It was at this point, after the first quarter of the season, that we got Mark Ingram back, and the offense truly began to look very good. The defense didn’t give up as many big plays, and that’s been the difference overall in the team’s success since.
