Cowboys HC Jason Garrett on Alvin Kamara: ‘a dangerous, dangerous football player’ – (Saints Wire) Saints News

Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett knows a great running back when he sees one: he gets to work with Ezekiel Elliott every day. So of course he has high praise for the Saints’ own young star, Alvin Kamara. Garrett was effusive when asked about planning to defend Kamara on a conference call earlier this week:

“Well he’s just a great player to start with. He’s just one of these guys that really leaps off the tape at you, in terms of his quickness, his speed, his acceleration, his ability to run it his route running his ability catch the ball out of the backfield and when he’s lined up in a receiver type position and he’s just a fantastic player and then you add to that the fact that they do use him in all the different spots and he’s so capable of handling whatever they ask him to do. He’s just a dangerous, dangerous football player.”

Kamara has already hurt plenty of teams in the early stage of his career, but this will be his first action against Garrett’s Cowboys. Dallas prides itself on its defense, ranking among the league leaders in defending running backs on the ground (3.7 yards per carry) and through the air (6.3 yards per target). But they haven’t seen anyone like Kamara, and Garrett appears to be acutely aware of that. We’ll see if his worries turned into a strong defensive game plan.
